Zhang Lao is a hover car racer from the Russo-Chinese league of racing.
History[]
Hover Car Racer[]
Born and raised in China, Zhang Lao obtained his own racing-class hover car, named the Chun-T'I, and participated in numerous races in the Russo-Chinese league.
One year, Lao finished third place in the R-C League behind the Russian twins Igor and Vladimir Krotsky, which earned him an invitation to enter the Challenger Race of the New York Masters.
Once the Challenger began, Lao found himself in a chase pack pursuing Xavier Xonora and Jason Chaser, the race's leaders. On Lap 3, however, the Krotsky brothers ganged up on Praveen Chandra and forced him into a sideways lateral skid, leaving Chandra a huge obstacle. Lao had no time to respond as the Chun-T'I collided with Chandra's car, with Varishna Krishna, Markos Christos and three other racers getting caught up in the chaos. Lao survived the crash, either by ejecting beforehand or by enduing it in his reinforced cockpit.
Skills[]
- Expert Driver / Pilot: As seems to be standard practice for anyone wishing to learn how to drive a hover car, Lao is capable of piloting the aviation-type hover car. His talents as a racer got him the third place position in the Russo-Chinese League and an invitation to take place in the Challenger Race.
Equipment[]
- Chun-T'I: Lao's personal hover car, which he used to participate in the New York Challenger. Due to a series of catastrophic events, the Chun'T'I was caught up in a wide-spread collision, becoming little more than a pile of scrap.
- Racing Uniform: Like all racers, Lao has a racing uniform, comprised of a crash helmet, leather gloves and boots, and racing overalls, all coloured and patterned in his colours of choice.
- Pit Tarantula: A standard piece of equipment for hover car racers, this machine aids in pit bay maintenance during races, which Lao's mech chief managed during pit stops to keep their team's car in top working order by replacing worn or damaged parts, as well as refilling coolant.
