William H. Ashcroft, also known as Sphinx, is a member of the British SAS.

History[]

Early History[]

In 1996, William Ashcroft was identified by the U.S. / U.K. Motor Neuron Rapidity of Response tests as having extraordinary reflexes, making him one of the few people who could disarm the CincLock-VII security system.

When Majestic-12 planned to initiate a Cold War by launching American Chameleon missiles at various places around the world, and had started a bounty hunt to remove all those who would stop them, Ashcroft was on their liquidation list.

Scarecrow[]

Ashcroft led a team of SAS soldiers during an Allied invasion of an Al-Qaeda base in the Karpalov coalmine. He lost a few men trying to send them around their enemy's barricades, and soon Elizabeth Gant of the USMC arrived as part of a backup squad. Then another force of men arrived, whom Ashcroft assumed were another reinforcement team and went to debrief them. However, the moment he turned his back on them, their leader cut off Ashcroft's head with a single stroke.

The Skorpions later took Ashcroft's head to the Forteresse de Valois to claim the bounty.

Skills[]

  • Expert Combatant: As a trained soldier in the SAS, Ashcroft has been trained in several forms of hand-to-hand combat.
  • Expert Marksman: Being a trained soldier, Ashcroft is an accurate marksman and capable of using a variety of different firearms.
  • Expert Tactician: As the leader of an SAS unit, Ashcroft is presumably a skilled strategist and leader, able to formulate battle strategies to fit the changing needs of the situation.
