As dawn began on the day of the Tartarus rotation, it immediately became apparent that global temperatures were quickly rising. The sunspot was quickly identified as the source of the problem, and people began looking to the White House for solutions to the threat of flooding in coastal cities, however the President made no public statement.

Following a major security breach at Fort Greely and the discovery of the theft of 16 Russian nuclear missiles, the White House's National Security began gathering in the Situation Room. As another breach occurred at the SBX-1 interceptor platform in the Pacific Ocean, General Dyson contacted the command center, and learned of the attempted hijacking from Captain JJ Collins. President Wallace soon joined the meeting, and she and Dyson led the staff in discussing the security threat while also corresponding with Collins during the remainder of the crisis.
