Tracy Lynn Smith is a doctor specialising in the Siren bells, a former Sister of the Order of the Serene Maidens, and an ally to Jack West Jr and his team.
History[]
Early History[]
During her life, Tracy Smith took an interest in Isaac Isamov's Foundation novel, which she enjoyed, along with the rest of Asimov's novels. She would also study medicine, eventually training as a doctor specialising in ears, noses and throats.
Tracy was later recruited to join the Order of the Serene Maidens, an order solely comprised of women who were dedicated to learning all about the Super-Ancient Beings and their trials leading up to the Omega Event. As she based herself at the Order's lodgings in Moscow's Novodevichy Convent, Tracy did extensive work researching the properties of the Siren bells, ancient artifacts which could send people into a comatose state if they heard its ringing tone. During her experiments in soundproof chambers, Tracy was able to discover how the bells' tone affected the ears, and was able to theorise an alternate way to awaken someone who was afflicted by the siren sleep other than the Orphean bell, which involved an injection of synthetic endolymph fluid into the ear canal.
Even while she was with the Maidens, Tracy was often approached by men attracted by her beauty, though she would always reject them because of a rule she had set herself in which a man would have to ask her a question about herself or her opinion on something within the first minute of their meeting, none of whom met those requirements. Her fellow Sister and friend, Lynda Fadel, was aware of Tracy's self-imposed rule regarding men.
Around 2015, Tracy left the Order of the Serene Maidens in disgust, both out of annoyance of not being heard by the Four Legendary Kingdoms who secretly ruled the world from the shadows, and due to her belief that the Maidens were "consumed with high celestial matters" and weren't doing anything to help people who were suffering around the world.
As soon as as she departed the Maidens, Tracy went off-the-grid and joined Doctors Without Borders, and began working in several third world countries to help those in need.
Around late 2016, Tracy was working at a refugee camp in Sicily, where the Catholic Church's agents located her, most likely due to her being seen as a rogue nun and a potential obstacle to the Church's plans. Tracy evidently realised she had been located and fled before the Church's agents could capture or kill her.
Soon after, Tracy started working in a mobile hospital in Aleppo. At a point where several bombs were being dropped on the Syrian city, U.S. forces tried to evacuate Tracy and others with Doctors Without Borders, though she refused to leave, and so spent the next month continuing her work in Syria.
The Two Lost Mountains[]
After her team arrived in Rome, Zoe Kissane-West and Sister Agnes broke into the Pope's private study to look through his papers, with Zoe discovering that the Pope had ordered an assassination on Tracy, whom Agnes explained was an expert on the Siren bells' properties. Knowing that Sphinx would likely want out her of the way, thus the Pope's assassination order, Zoe determined that they would need to find Tracy both to keep her safe and for her assistance.
During Christmas Day, Tracy heard the news about the cities that had been afflicted by the Siren bells, and suspected that someone would be coming for her soon enough.
Indeed, as Jack West Jr and his team began discussing plans to find one of the two lost iron mountains, Lynda reported a lead on Tracy's location. Since they would need her expertise on the Siren bells, and in the hope that she may be able to awaken their friends afflicted by the siren sleep, Jack decided to send Zoe and Lynda to Aleppo to locate the doctor.
Zoe and Lynda soon managed to find Tracy's mobile hospital, approaching the ENT surgeon as she was tending to a child. Unsurprised that she had been sought out, Tracy listened as Zoe explained that the Church had ordered a hit on her, and confirmed that she could undo the Siren sleep, proceeding to explain how to do so. After hearing this, Zoe pleaded with the doctor to help awaken her daughter, though it was Zoe's mentioning that doing so would also hurt the royals with their plans to enslave the world that convinced Tracy to help. Accompanying the women back to their plane, Tracy proceeded to inject Lily with a synthetic endolymph fluid in her ear canal, successfully waking the girl from the siren sleep.
Tracy agreed to join the team as they headed to Jerusalem to meet with Jack, and during the flight she also awoke the sleep-struck Aloysius Knight and Stretch. After arriving in Jerusalem, Tracy helped rescue Jack, Easton and Pooh Bear after Jaeger Zwei used a Siren bell to put them to sleep, with Tracy herself awakening the latter two once they had escaped to safety in their van.
Tracy accompanied the team to Cairo so that Jack, Lily and Zoe could perform the Fall at the fifth iron mountain beneath the Great Sphinx of Giza, but remained onboard the team's Super Galaxy to research how to develop larger quantities of the synthetic endolymph serum. Soon after, as the team began preparations to break through Sphinx's defences at the Supreme Labyrinth's gates, Jack tasked Tracy, Lynda, Pooh Bear and Stretch with finding out what the Four Legendary Kingdoms were planning for after the Omega Event.
The One Impossible Labyrinth[]
To begin their mission to discover the Four Kingdoms' plans, Tracy, Lynda, Pooh Bear and Stretch made their way to a U.S. base in Bavaria, where they began working to intercept communications between the shadow royals. Eventually, Tracy and the rest learned that their enemies were enacting a refuge plan called the Storm Cellar Protocol, in which royal families given approval by Sphinx's underlings were to head to one of three shelters to wait out the chaos occurring because of the Omega Event. Learning that the man in charge of the affair was Sir John Marren, Tracy waited with Lynda while Pooh Bear and Stretch kidnapped him to get more information.
As the team began heading to Marseille by road in a police van to throw off any pursuers, Tracy listened as Marren disclosed the nature of the world Sphinx intended to rule; quoting back Sphinx's line that all in the Siren sleep would wake as slaves, Tracy questioned if Marren really believed that, and he replied that humans were easily led and liked to know their place, which they would ensure after the Omega Event occurred.
Once they had acquired a new plane and set course to Washington, and, unable to sleep during the flight, eventually wandered into the cockpit, where Tracy found Pooh Bear reading a copy of Asimov's Foundation. Tracy was intrigued by his choice of reading and asked which of Asimov's was his favourite, and was surprised when he asked her the same question. The pair then began a three-hour conversation, unknowingly observed by Stretch and Lynda, who were both amused and glad to see Tracy and Pooh getting along so well, with Lynda particularly surprised since she knew of Tracy's proclivities regarding men. Their discussion was rudely interrupted as their plane was remotely hacked and their course changed, as Marren had managed to tip off his friends to their whereabouts.
Once they had arrived at their new destination at the Raven Rock base - where some of the Four Kingdoms were sheltering - Tracy and the others began preparing a plan to turn the tables on their enemies, sending Marren out at their enemies' demand. Once they had disembarked,Tracy waited until Pooh Bear detonated some explosives and destroyed the plane, catching the Golden Knight and Delta commandos off-guard. The quartet quickly leapt into action, and during the brief fire-fight Tracy shot at and killed Marren before covering Pooh Bear as he took control of the Golden Knight's battalion of bronzemen.
Soon Tracy and the others had acquired the master list of the royal families and rung a Siren bell inside the base to send royals within into the siren sleep. They were soon contacted by the rest of the team, learning that Jack had successfully thwarted the Omega Event.
As the world got back to normal in the aftermath of the events of the trials and Sphinx's actions, Tracy went out on several dates with Pooh Bear over the next year, eventually becoming engaged and marrying in a glamourous wedding ceremony in the United Arab Emirates.
Personality[]
.
Skills[]
- Expert Physician: Tracy is a qualified doctor, who specialises in particular in afflictions affecting peoples ears, noses and throats. Her skills as a doctor first got her noticed by the Order of the Serene Maidens, so that she could use her skills in audiology to study the Siren bells, and her qualifications and skills as an ENT surgeon allowed her to be accepted into Doctors Without Borders.
- Expert Audiologist: One of her primary specialties as a doctor, Tracy is an expert audiologist, and is able to help treat those who are deaf/near-deaf as a result of patients being afflicted by loud, harsh noises. Her expertise in this field was presumably what spurred the Order of the Serene Maidens to recruit Tracy, who became one of their leading experts on the Siren bells. During her studies of the bells, Tracy was able to determine how the bells' ringing tone affected the human ear, and devise a way to counteract its effect by developing a solution of synthetic endolymph fluid to be injected into the ear canal.
- Expert Historian: During Tracy's time with the Order of the Serene Maidens, she learned much of what the Maidens knew involving the shadow royal world, including the time and date the Omega Event would occur, information relevant to the Trial of the Mountains, and the history of the Siren bells with their Order.
- Trained Marksman: As she was able to handle a pistol during the confrontation at Raven Rock, Tracy has apparently been trained in using small firearms, and was able to easily hit and fatally hit Marren.
Equipment[]
- Synthetic Endolymph Fluid Serum: An artificial form of the endolymph fluid found in human ear canals, which Tracy developed in order to counteract the effects of the Siren bells' tone. By injecting it into the subject's ear canal, Tracy can re-stimulate the flow of the fluid and cause them to awaken from the siren sleep.
- Airbus A340-200: An airliner belonging to the President of Egypt, which Tracy and the others took to transport themselves to Europe during their mission, but later left behind due to the need to be inconspicuous.
- Air France 737: A French airliner which Tracy and the others in his team used to cross from Europe to the United States.
- Pistol: A small handgun which Tracy used to fire at the Delta commandos and to kill Marren during the confrontation at Raven Rock.
Relationships[]
Zahir "Pooh Bear" al Abbas[]
Though they had not known each other long, Tracy and Pooh Bear quickly established a connection with one another during their shared mission to discover the Four Kingdoms' plans. They began bonding over a shared interest in Isaac Asimov's Foundation novel, sparking a three hour conversation. After the mission ended, the pair went on several dates over the course of a year before eventually marrying.
