The Temple of Dendur is an ancient shrine dedicated to the Egyptian god Osiris.
History[]
Early History[]
Built in dedication to the apparent god of the afterlife Osiris, the Temple of Dendur was constructed at the commission of the emperor Augustus.
Two thousand years later in 1963, the temple was dismantled and removed from its original location in order to save it and other significant sites from being submerged by Lake Nasser following construction of the Aswan High Dam. A few years later the Temple of Dendur was relocated again to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art in the United States of America, and was rebuilt brick-by-brick in the museum's Sackler Wing.
Jack West Jr Series[]
Jack West Jr and the Hero's Helmet[]
As the construction of the Temple of Dendur neared completion, the Knife of Osiris was hidden within one of its bricks and set into the temple.
In 1994, Jack West Jr began theorising that the Temple of Dendur contained the Knife of Osiris, and so he Max Epper received permission from the museum to examine the Temple with non-invasive equipment to confirm their theory.
On Christmas Eve, Jack and Epper began preparing a ground penetrating radar to confirm Jack's theory, and as Jack aimed it at the suspected brick he confirmed his theory about the Temple and the Knife.
However, a fire alarm forced the museum to evacuate everybody, a diversion to allow a squad of fake firemen to move into the museum and smash the brick of the Temple containing the Knife, and proceeded to abscond with it.
The Secret Runners of New York[]
After seeing Bo Bradford enter the Met, a curious Skye Rogers followed him inside and soon found him near the displayed Temple of Dendur, though Skye noticed Bo wasn't actually paying attention to the Temple.
