Stanislaus Calder is the Race Director of the International Race School.

History[]

Hover Car Racer[]

At some stage, Stanislaus Calder proved himself competent in managing hover car races, and was employed at the International Race School as the school's Race Director.

During the Sponsors' Tournament, immediately following the match between Jason Chaser and Barnaby Becker, Jason's mech chief Sally McDuff informed Calder and other officials that she had proof her team was sabotaged. Calder and the officials then went to the Argonaut's pit bay, where Sally showed them footage of Barnaby's navigator, Guido Moralez, placing a portable microwave transmitter near their magneto drives which had drained their power.

Upon seeing the footage, Calder was shocked and immediately called for a hearing in order to question Barnaby and Guido. Though Calder initially moved to have Barnaby and Guido expelled from the Race School, the boys' mentor, Zoroastro, defended the pair and convinced Calder it was a desperate act completely out of character. Even so, Calder decided that Barnaby would be disqualified from the Sponsors' Tournament for the act of sabotage, thus moving Jason into the final match of the tournament.

Later, Calder was watching Race 50 when the school's power grid came down and forced the final pit stop to be done manually. After the race, Calder led the investigation into the power cut, learning that Ariel Piper's pit machine had been attacked by a computer virus, but her firewall had repelled it and led to it disabling the power grid. Calder quickly traced the virus to Wernold Smythe's computer, and upon confronting the parts and equipment employee Calder learned that Principal Jean-Pierre LeClerq had employed him to sabotage Ariel during the year because he believed there was no place for women in professional hover car races.

After LeClerq was fired, Calder was installed as the Racing School's acting Principal for what little time remained of the school year, and so hosted the final ceremony, during which he congratulated Xavier Xonora, Varishna Krishna, Jason and Ariel for earning the four places to enter and represent the International Race School in the New York Masters' Challenger Race.
