The Spring of the Black Poplar is a hidden spring that contains a variety of water that is crucial to the Basin of Rameses II's use.
History[]
Early History[]
At a currently unknown point in Earth's history, the Super-Ancient Beings set about constructing a machine that would repel the Dark Star. Among the tools they created was a Basin which was to be used to perform a second cleansing for the final three Pillars before they were meant to be placed in their corresponding Vertex. The Super-Ancients chose to use a special type of water found only in a single spring near what would later become Loch Ness. Only by using the water from this spring could the second cleansing be performed in conjunction with the Firestone.
As the notes of the Basin's functions became lost to history, the Spring of the Black Poplar remained hidden to humanity.
The land in which the Spring of the Black Poplar was located later came into the ownership of Sir Edmund Halley as one of his many estates. While exploring some of the ruins on his land, Halley found an old well with black poplar growing between the stones, and later commented on it to Sir Isaac Newton.
The Five Greatest Warriors[]
In the course of the Coalition of Minnows research into the Five Greatest Warriors and their relation to the components of the Machine, Alby Calvin and Lily West discovered that a wall at Saqqara had hieroglyphs describing the Basin's requirement to use the water from the Spring of the Black Poplar to function.
After Stretch, Pooh Bear and Julius and Lachlan Adamson were sent to retrieve the Basin from the British Museum, they proceeded on to Loch Ness since their research into Newton had revealed a possible location for the Spring at Halley's estate. Following four days of searching, Pooh Bear and Lachlan found a small cave in an inlet, and upon examining it found a well with a carved image of a black poplar on a stone brick, discovering they had found the Spring.
Despite the small trickling flow of water within the Spring's well, the group set about filling 10 liter plastic bottles with the water for use in the Basin, while Julius also filled his own water bottle with it. When the task was completed, the group left the Spring of the Black Poplar.
