The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was an elaborately designed tomb, and also housed one of the pieces of the Golden Capstone.
Fictional History[]
Seven Ancient Wonders[]
During the later years of his reign, the Caria ruler Mausolus arranged for the construction of an extravagant tomb intended for himself. Two years after Mausolus's death in 351 BC, his Mausoleum was completed.
After Alexander the Great oversaw the disassembly of the Golden Capstone, he arranged for each of the Capstone's component Pieces to be hidden by priests of the Cult of Amun Ra within the constructs that would become known as the seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The already-existent Mausoleum was chosen as one of the hiding places, and soon one of the Capstone's middle Pieces was hidden somewhere within the Mausoleum.
For reasons unknown, the Capstone Piece within the Mausoleum was later removed and hidden at Hamilcar's Refuge, along with one of the octagonal pillars that had been a part of the Mausoleum. The Callimachus Text would be re-written to simply state that the Piece lay with the Pharaohs, as the Lighthouse of Alexandria Piece had already been moved there as well.
The Mausoleum itself would remain intact for almost 2,000 years until around the 12th–15th century AD, being heavily damaged by a series of earthquakes.
When Jack West Jr, Lily and Zoe Kissane arrived at Hamilcar's Refuge to find the Lighthouse / Pharaohs Piece, they were surprised to find that the pillar from the Mausoleum and its accompanying Piece were also present.
When Lily later translated the Callimachus Text, she found that the instructions to locate the Mausoleum piece simply stated, "I lie with the Pharos".
Later, Jack would return to Hamilcar's Refuge and take away the Mausoleum pillar and bring it back to his farm, hiding it in an old nickel mine along with the other treasures he had gathered.
The Six Sacred Stones[]
When the farm was invaded by Chinese forces, Jack took the uppermost piece of the Capstone from the mine's cavern and detonated the mine entrance, hiding the pillar of the Mausoleum from the rest of the world.
