Lily West, sometimes also known as Eowyn, is one of the twin children of the Oracle of Siwa, with the ability to understand the Word of Thoth. As well as being Jack West's adopted daughter, she is also a member of the Coalition of Minnows and her adopted father's team.

History[]

Early History[]

Lily's mother, Malena Okombo, the former maid and wife of the latest Oracle of Siwa, Milo Omari, was kidnapped by Francisco del Piero towards the end of her pregnancy and taken to a chamber in the heart of a Ugandan volcano. Her captors took Malena's first-born child, Lily's twin brother Alexander, and left her mother, who died moments later. Jack West Jr inspected Malena's body moments later and realised another child was still in the process of being born, and so he and Max Epper performed a caesarian birth.

In the time after they escaped the volcano with Lily, she was named by Jack and left with trusted friends while he and Epper attended a meeting of seven nations. At this meeting, it was agreed that Lily would be watched over by a representative from each nation until she was able to decipher the Word of Thoth in the Callimachus text, which would lead them to the seven Pieces of the Golden Capstone within the seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and allow them to avert the danger from the Tartarus Sunspot.

For the next ten years, the team based themselves out of Victoria Station in Kenya, with the locals assuming that Lily was the daughter of Zoe Kissane and one of the male team members. As a toddler, Lily would often play peek-a-boo with Jack's brother-in-law, JJ "Sea Ranger" Wickham, though she wouldn't remember him growing up.

Because of the need to isolate her from the world, Lily was home-schooled by Epper and his wife Doris, who also taught her many ancient languages and hieroglyphs. A printed copy of the Callimachus Text was attached to the fridge so that Lily would look at it every morning.

As she grew, Lily was highly inquisitive and a fast learner. She observed and learned a lot about the team members guarding her, such as Saladin's religious traditions and Epper's previous studies towards being a priest. Some of the team members also taught her other skills, with Witch Doctor showing Lily how to be stealthy (to Doris' constant fright), Sky Monster reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy with her, Saladin showing her how his explosives worked but not allowing her near them, and Zoe taught her girly things, thus also becoming the female role model for Lily to admire. She also became close to Gunman, playing games of Splinter Cell with him and playing pretend tea party (which the other team members never teased him for), though the pair did get into trouble once for stealing some of Pooh Bear's explosives and blowing up her Barbie trailer.

Eventually Lily gave most of the team new nicknames; Epper became Wizard, Jack became Woodsman, Zoe as Princess Zoe, Saladin was renamed Pooh Bear, Witch Doctor became Fuzzy, Gunman as Big Ears, and Matador became Noddy. After they had watched The Lord of the Rings films together, Sky Monster gave Lily her own nickname, Eowyn, which she loved.

Some time after Lily turned seven, the Israeli spy known as Archer joined the team, and Lily noticed how the other team members (particularly Pooh Bear) were reluctant to accept him at first, though she soon gave him his own nickname too, Stretch. Around this period, Lily was invited to the birthday party of a local girl called Kimmy; though she didn't want to go to the party of someone unpopular, Jack encouraged her to go, and when she did and saw how her arrival made Kimmy happy, Lily realised what it meant to care about the feelings of others.

The team member Lily remained most curious about was Jack, since he did not teach her any lessons and often remained in his study. Lily often snuck in there to observe him, and his falcon Horus, who ignored all of Lily attempts to get her to play. One time, Lily was helping Wizard go through his scrolls when she overheard him talking with Zoe, reminiscing about the days when she studied under him and noting Jack was a lot different from that time. Lily listened as Wizard explained to Zoe things about Jack that she had never known before, such as his mother being Australian and his work operating with the Commander-in-Chief's In Extremis Force. After the conversation, Wizard realised Lily had been listening the whole time and assured her that Jack was a good man who cared for her. Later, Jack told Lily that after the mission he would need to disappear for a while, but left her with clues so that she would be able to find him.

At some stage, after the team discussed Lily's development, Jack decided to take her to see the Nutcracker in Cape Town because of her love of ballet.

Seven days before the Tartarus sunspot was due, Lily found herself understanding the first verse of the ancient text. After translating the verse, the team was able to determine the location of the first Piece of the Capstone, the Colossus of Rhodes Piece, and so they headed off to the Sudan.

Seven Ancient Wonders[]

Lily joined the team as they ventured into an old mine, at times being carried through the trap-laden system by Big Ears, who also helped to keep her from seeing some horrific sights such as dead bodies. Once the team entered the cavern, Jack escorted Lily up the Master Snare trap into the innermost cavern, where she had to select the Capstone Piece from the pendants on the Colossus's necklace. Once she had picked the Piece correctly, Jack helped Lily along as the team began their retreat from the Europeans. Unfortunately, once they made it back outside, the team was surrounded by Cal Kallis's CIEF team and forced to hand over the Capstone Piece, but luckily the team still managed to escape on the Halicarnassus.

Lily was upset over Noddy's death and so Jack comforted her. Later, while staring absently at the Callimachus text, Lily was surprised to suddenly understand the next dialect of the text, and so translated the clue it contained. Soon the team prepared their next move to recover the Alexandria Lighthouse Piece from Hamilcar's Refuge, taking Lily along with them.

Once they emerged in the Refuge's concealed inlet, the team began racing against Kallis and Judah's teams through the traps, but Lily, Jack and Zoe alone made inside the Refuge itself. After finding the Lighthouse's Piece with the Mausoleum Piece, they were forced to leave them behind since Judah's team was right behind them, and so Zoe and Lily rejoined the rest of the team while Jack pursued the CIEF. As the team debated how to escape, Lily suggested they use one of Pooh Bear's C4 charges on the gazebo ceiling, a suggestion that saved their lives and allowed them to reach the surface.

Over the next day until Jack returned, Wizard left Lily to continue translating the next two verses of the Callimachus text, and while she noted that the language was getting harder with each dialect, her ability to understand it grew just as quickly. Unfortunately, Wizard would realise that these new translations offered the team no real clues, and so Jack reluctantly decided they needed to liberate Mustapha Zaeed, an expert on the Capstone, from Guantanamo Bay to help them. Lily would be left in Jamaica with Epper while the team retrieved Zaeed.

After they returned to the Halicarnassus, Zaeed stared at Lily intently before offering what he knew, revealing that the Zeus Piece was kept unknowingly in the Louvre. Lily went with Jack's team as they deployed to Paris to retrieve the Piece, helping to make Jack and Big Ears look less suspicious as they made their way through the French museum. After they pulled the Piece from the Winged Victory of Samothrace statue, Lily and the others made their escape through the streets of Paris.

Later, after they had landed back at Victoria Station, Lily eagerly ran to Doris with Big Ears to share the news. After Doris called out to Lily that their return was just like Gimli's return to the mines of Moria, Lily realised that this was a warning and that something was wrong. Indeed, once she and Big Ears began running back to the Halicarnassus, the CIEF breached the hanger and opened fire. Big Ears managed to get Lily and himself to the cover of a nearby generator, but they were cut off from the air-stairs.

Knowing that Lily had to be able to escape, Big Ears bade her an emotional farewell, before he broke cover and shielded Lily with his own body as he made his dash for the air-stairs, closing most of the distance before he was gunned down. Lily cried by his side until Stretch and Pooh Bear managed to grab her and get her onto the Halicarnassus, which took off soon afterwards, with Lily sobbing in Jack's lap over the deaths of Doris and Big Ears. As Jack debated the team's next move, Lily stated that she intended to make Big Ears proud by doing what she had been put on Earth to do, and so the team decided to locate the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and retrieve its Piece.

While they managed to locate it, again pursued by Judah's arriving forces, Lily and the others had only just gotten past the first trap the team was confronted by a group of Sayaret Matkal led by Avenger. Lily was confused by Stretch's apparent betrayal, but before he could try and explain himself Avenger ordered the group to make their way to the Capstone Piece. When Jack almost gave up in the Well of the Winged Lion trap, Lily called him "Daddy" in her despair, giving him the focus he needed to escape the trap. After he made it out, Jack assured Lily he'd never leave her.

Once Jack and Pooh Bear retrieved the Piece, Avenger cut off their escape and forced Lily to accompany him as they headed for the alternate exit. However, when Lily became trapped in the quicksand of the second Well of the Winged Lion, Avenger ordered Stretch to leave her. Instead, Stretch decided to stay and help Lily, allowing her to stand on top of his head as the quicksand rose, while he himself used the barrel of his rifle to breathe until the Americans arrived and reset the trap. As a result, Lily and Stretch were taken into Judah's custody.

Lily and Stretch were brought by Judah to Luxor, arriving just after the Europeans were ambushed by the CIEF, and were soon reunited with the similarly-captured Wizard, Zoe and Fuzzy, and was introduced to her twin brother Alexander. With the Coalition team kept as hostages that Judah would order killed if Lily didn't comply to his commands, Lily and Alexander were transported to Giza to witness the ceremony of power at the top of the Great Pyramid. During the helicopter flight, Lily finally spoke with her brother, only to immediately be put off by his arrogant attitude. When Lily learned that he had never done chores or anything normal, Alexander questioned why she would allow herself to do such menial tasks when they were born to rule over people, to which she stated she did so because it helped the team, who she loved like a family, a sentiment Alexander disregarded.

The twins were then brought to the platform erected on the Pyramid's summit, where Judah openly wondered which child he should sacrifice in the ritual of power. After Judah selected the more pretentious Alexander and forced him to enter the recess between the Pyramid's peak and the restored Capstone, Lily watched as Judah prepared to perform the ritual. When the remainder of the Coalition team assaulted the CIEF team from the hovering Halicarnassus, Wizard protected Lily during the firefight until he was knocked unconscious by Zaeed. After seeing Zaeed carrying a jar of dirt from Jack's homeland (believing it was his own people's soil) Lily volunteered to be used by the terrorist in the ritual instead of Alexander. As Zaeed performed the ritual, a beam of light emitted by the Tartarus sunspot struck the Capstone, and the crystal array in the Capstone Pieces produced a thinner beam that struck Lily's chest, apparently killing her.

After the battle was over, Jack went to the Capstone and cried over her body, telling her he'd always loved her. Reawakening, Lily responded she loved him back (again calling him Daddy). As the team collected the Capstone and reunited in the Halicarnassus, the reunited team rejoiced, with Lily and Pooh Bear forgiving Stretch and the Lily explaining to Jack that she survived by the ritual by going into the chamber willingly, as a scroll she had read years earlier had explained. Lily then went to comfort Zoe and Wizard for the loss of their loved ones, offering to be a part of their family if they wanted, which they did.

In the weeks after the mission, Wizard brought Lily with him as the representatives of the countries in the Coalition met again to discuss the events of the mission. Later, Wizard and Zoe went along with Lily to find Jack (who had gone into hiding as he'd told Lily he would), and so Lily followed the clues Jack had given her to find him at his farm in Australia.

Between Seven Ancient Wonders and The Six Sacred Stones[]

Jack officially adopted Lily as his own daughter, and each member of the team returned to their home nation to resume their regular duties. During their time off, the team members would individually visit Jack and Lily at the farm, and though the absence of most of her former guardians was hard on Lily at first, she in turn occasionally visit the individual team members at their own homes.

Lily enjoyed visiting Zoe in Ireland, where Zoe's superior Colin O'Hara treated her like a granddaughter and often spoiled her with chocolates. However, when Cieran Kincaid took over the dead O'Hara's position when he died, Lily disliked the zealous Irish Captain, especially after seeing how uncomfortable Zoe was around him.

Wizard would more regularly visit Jack and Lily at the farm, and Lily would sometimes help to translate items written in Thoth to help out with his research. Lily also met Wizard's associate Yobu "Tank" Tanaka, who gave her a robotic dog from Japan which she named Sir Barksalot, but she noted a sadness within him. After Tank told her it was in part due to the loss of his parents during World War II, Lily expressed her sympathy for him and suggested that he consider his friends a new family.

Eventually, Lily asked Jack about his family, to which he answered some of her questions regarding his father and sister, and he soon took Lily to meet his mother, Mabel "Mae" Merriweather.

Whenever Zoe came to visit the farm, she and Lily would do girly things together such as painting their toenails or dying the tips of their hair. Lily noticed the budding romance between Zoe and Jack, and so on one occasion Lily asked if Zoe was in love with Jack, harbouring a hope that they might one day marry and thus make them a true family. While Zoe replied that she had been since she had first met him, she did not elaborate on why she had not acted on her feelings to Lily.

Jack sent Lily to a boarding school for gifted students in Perth, where her skills in languages helped her to excel, though some of her teachers felt she wasn't really trying. During her time there, Lily made friends with Alby Calvin, a mathematically-gifted boy who taught her sign-language (because of his partial deafness). Lily would defend Alby from the bully Tyson Bradley, once twisting his wrist so hard she nearly broke his wrist, while her apparent lack of interest in sports dissatisfied the sports-master Mr. Naismaith. When Jack came to her school's parent-teacher interviews, Jack was largely pleased with what he heard from the teachers, aside from Naismith. Whenever Jack traveled to collect her, he always used different routes to prevent anyone from trying to follow him back to the farm.

Jack and Lily spent Christmas of 2006 in Dubai with Pooh Bear at the Burj al Arab, where the whole team was reunited. At this time she met Pooh Bear's older brother Scimitar, but disliked how he looked down on her and his younger brother. During the party, Lily snuck out of her room to watch the late night proceedings on the helicopter pad, though Jack caught on and allowed her to come out to meet with Solomon Kol, who had taken to looking after Victoria Station since the mission's completion, and her uncle the Sea Ranger during his brief appearance.

In September of 2007, Lily accompanied Jack to the Pine Gap facility where he was briefed regarding potential threats to Australia. Lily would note the pictures and information of the Vatican Cardinal Ricardo Mendoza and a mysterious Russian General known as Carnivore.

Some time before the summer holidays of 2007 began, Jack agreed to allow Alby to stay with him and Lily at the farm while his parents went on a holiday.

The Six Sacred Stones[]

Lily and Alby were up early and playing outside the farmhouse when Jack called for them to get inside and gather their things. Recognising the tone of his voice, Lily realised something was up and resignedly went to follow Jack's instructions. The farm was about to be invaded by Chinese forces, and Lily joined Zoe in her Light Strike Vehicle as they made their way across the farm to the highway where Sky Monster had the Halicanassus ready to take off. Once they'd escaped the group began making their way to the Burj al Arab, where Wizard (who had sent Jack a warning regarding the assault) had requested that the team rendezvous.

Once they'd arrived in their suite, Lily raced Alby to picking a room, and waited anxiously for her former guardians to arrive, hugging Stretch and Pooh Bear when they finally did and telling them the progress of her learning. Lily was present at the new meeting of nations as Jack revealed what he had learned from Wizard's notes; a zero-point field referred to as the Dark Star was due to enter the solar system, and unless it was repelled, then its deadly energy would destroy all life on Earth. To this end, they needed to gather six oblong diamonds called Pillars and set them at various locations around the world to rebuild an ancient machine. In order to find the Pillars, Vertices, determine when each Pillar had to be set and cleanse them, they would need to find the Six Sacred Stones.

After Alby revealed he knew some details of some of Wizard's notes, Jack sent him with Zoe and Lily with the Firestone to meet with Wizard's former students, twins Julius and Lachlan Adamson, to unlock the secrets of the Altar Stone of Stonehenge. Upon their rendezvous with the Adamson twins, Zoe and the kids made their way to Stonehenge, and Lily listened to the twins' theories regarding Stonehenge and its connection to the Great Pyramid. Upon reaching Stonehenge, Lily helped to restore the ancient site before the Titanic Rising began, and watched in amazement as the weakened light of the Dark Sun caused the lichen on the trilithons to reveal the relative locations of each of the six vertices.

Reuniting with Jack's group Mortimer Island, Lily and the others were introduced to Iolanthe Compton-Jones of the House of Windsor, who had the Fourth Pillar to go with Vulture's First Pillar. Lily was astounded to meet a real princess, though Iolanthe kindly regarded Lily as coming from a lineage much older and nobler than her own. After inadvertently causing tension between Iolanthe and Zoe by pointing out the latter's call-sign was 'Princess', Lily joined the rest of the procession as they identified the location of the First Vertex at Abu Simbel, learned the Pillar-laying dates from the Killing Stone of the Maya, and cleansed the two Pillars they had with the Philosopher's Stone.

Lily accompanied the team as they made their way to Abu Simbel, and during the flight, even as she was supposed to be sleeping, Lily overheard Jack and Iolanthe's discussion regarding their task. Lily remained in the team's zoidiac as Jack, Wizard and Zoe went to lay the Pillar, but once the task was accomplished, she and the others found themselves surrounded by Iolanthe's SAS troopers. Iolanthe forced the team to hand Lily, Wizard, the Pillar and Firestone to her before she had them left for the crocodiles. When they reached the shore, Lily was about to shout a warning to the nearby tourists, but noticed the Japanese men's intent focus on their group and their tattoos that matched Tank's. Realising they were in danger, Lily tackled Wizard to the ground just as the Japanese men blew themselves up, and Lily was knocked unconscious by the blast.

Thanks to Lily's actions, Wizard was the only one who remained conscious, and he quickly grabbed Lily and began driving them to a rendezvous point for the Halicarnassus. Lily started regaining consciousness just after they drove up the plane's ramp, and remained inside while the rest of the tea fought their way back to the Hali. However, only Zoe and Alby made it in time before they had to take off, and Lily protested the idea of leaving Jack and the others behind. Jack implored that she and others find the Neetha and place the Second Pillar, promising to catch up to them, and so Lily had no choice as Jack, Pooh Bear, Stretch and Astro were left behind.

Shortly after they took off, however, Sky Monster informed the group that they would need to make a forced landing in Rwanda. After sending word to Solomon Kol to request fuel, Lily and the others made plans to rendezvous with him on the way to the Congo. With word having been sent out to search for them, Lily was forced to cut her hair short to help disguise herself. As they made their way through the African continent, Lily translated an image taken from the first Vertex that described all of the other Vertices, and helped Alby to begin translating the Thoth-written rewards on the First Pillar. During their journey, while attempting to get in touch with Jack, they instead reached his father Jonathon "Wolf" West Sr, who was the leader of their adversaries and had apparently killed Jack, and Lily cried in despair at the news.

Once Wizard's team located the Neetha village, they were promptly captured by the tribe, and discovered that, in addition to the second Pillar, the Neetha also possessed the Seeing Stone of Delphi. As the Neetha held them prisoner, Lily was surprised by the fact that they were speaking a verbal form of Thoth, which she could understand and speak. After overhearing some of the Neethans speaking, Lily responded in distaste to a question directed at her if she had a husband. During the night, Lily found herself speaking to a kindly young Neethan called Ono, sharing stories about their respective worlds.

The next morning, Lily was horrified when Warano announced his claim to make Lily his wife; Solomon tried to fight the Neetha for Lily's freedom, only to be killed, and so Zoe took up the challenge, ending up victorious. As Zoe and Alby were sent into the village's maze as punishment, Zoe called for Lily to listen to Ono's radio, and soon Lily and Wizard heard Wolf preparing his forces to invade the village. When they did, Diane Cassidy and Ono freed the pair, and the group tried to escape in the chaos, however Alby was shot and captured by Wolf's men, with Wolf himself showing off Jack's fireman's helmet as proof of his death. Forced to leave her friend, the Sacred Stones and Pillars behind, Lily and the others were able to escape on the returned Halicarnasus.

They soon learned that Wolf and his Saudi allies had paid off the South African government to prevent any access to the Second Vertex beneath Table Mountain, and Lily expressed surprise at Wizard's refusal to believe Jack was dead. Eventually Wizard's hopes proved true when Jack got in contact with the group, and Lily was overjoyed that her father was alive. Lily watched over the video link as Wizard helped Jack navigate the second Vertex's trap system, but was soon watching in horror as Jack made a desperate play to lay the Pillar before a treacherous CIEF soldier dropped it into the chasm and fell into its depths as a result. While the adults were forced to delay their grief as South African fighter jets made their way to their position, Lily remained crying in front of the screen.

The Five Greatest Warriors[]

After learning Jack survived the fall and rescued Alby, the relieved Lily and the rest of her group arranged to meet up with them at World's End. Once the team reunited, they exchanged tales of their adventures since their split until Lily questioned where Pooh Bear and Stretch were. After learning that Stretch had been sent to the Mossad and Pooh Bear had gone looking for him, Lily was disappointed by Jack's reluctance to help their friends and his decision to send Lily to stay with Alby's family after Christmas.

Lily was relieved when she later learned that Jack had changed his mind and gone to help Stretch and Pooh Bear, and while the rest of the team based themselves at Sea Ranger's base in Zanzibar, Lily and Alby joined in the discussion via video-chat to plan their next move in researching the locations of the remaining Pillars and Vertices. After Cassidy put them onto the Five Greatest Warriors, Lily set about helping to research the Warriors' connection to the Machine, soon discovering from a photo taken in the first Vertex that the last three Pillars required a second cleansing from the Basin of Rameses II, and set to work with Alby trying to locate it.

Eventually, the team learned that Genghis Khan had held some of the Pillars before passing them on, and that a Fabergé Egg with pictures of the Vertex entrances was kept in his long lost arsenal. Believing they might need Lily's understand of Thoth, Jack arranged to pick her up from the Calvins' before heading to Mongolia. Before they did, Lily translated a line of Thoth text on a basin in the British Museum that Alby had found a picture of, and confirmed that it was the Basin of Rameses II.

When Lily, Jack, Wizard, Zoe and Sky Monster found Genghis's arsenal, some of Wolf's men had already entered the Arsenal, as had Tank and the Blood Brotherhood, the latter having destroyed the Egg. Zoe and Lily took cover until Wolf's team departed, and when they caught up to their friends their were horrified to see that Wizard had been fatally wounded by Wolf. As he lay dying, Wizard told the distraught Lily that he had always loved her like a granddaughter. Upon opening a sarcophagus containing Genghis's body and a shield with the Egg's images, Lily helped Zoe and Sky Monster as they dug out an old escape tunnel to avoid Mao and his forces.

As they laid low over the next week, Lily tried to get in touch with Alby, but was surprised that her friend wasn't answering. It wasn't until they were corresponding with Pooh Bear's team in England that Lily and the others learned that Scimitar and Vulture had kidnapped her friend. However, with the difficulty Wolf and the CIEF were having getting into the Hokkaido Vertex, Lily, Jack and Zoe were forced to take action and use the Black Bee to assist Rapier in getting the Philosopher's Stone into the Vertex beneath the tsunami struck. Upon seeing the fire maze's bridges, Lily recognised them from the edge of the plaque at the First Vertex, and led Jack, Zoe and the CIEF across the first part of the safe route.

Though Wolf agreed to a temporary truce to lay the Pillar, Lily was reluctant to trust or even speak to Wolf, sharing the answer of the bridges only with Jack and Zoe. As they waited for the time to claim the Pillar from its protective trap, Lily was surprised by Wolf's dismissal of their family ideals and the apparent disloyalty of Zoe. After helping secure the winches Jack and Wolf used to lay the Pillar, Lily questioned why Jack had bothered to save Wolf after he had killed Wizard, believing her adopted grandfather should have been allowed to die. Recognising her anger, Jack told Lily that killing was difficult and that if he had let Wolf die than he would have been no better than him. Along with Zoe, Jack and Astro, Lily departed the Vertex, only to be captured by Russian forces.

Lily, along with the others, was taken to a dam in Siberia belonging to Carnivore, the Russian Lily had noted during Jack's Pine Gap briefing. The royal revealed his intention to take the Pillars and their rewards and manipulate everyone else into completing the Machine's restoration for him, revealing he had placed some hostages, including Alby and his mother, into tank of formaldehyde to manipulate Jack and the others. As part of Carnivore's demands, Lily was to be sent with Jack and Sky Monster to meet with Iolanthe on Diego Garcia to lay the Fifth Pillar at its Vertex, and though Jack questioned why he would risk Lily when she was the only one who could read the Thoth-written Twin Tablets, Carnivore affirmed that she was not unique and was willing to risk her life since he had Alexander.

Once they arrived at Diego Garcia, Lily joined Jack as they worked together to make their way through the trap system, however Felix Bonaventura foolishly used a crane to set himself and the others ahead of Jack and Lily, setting of the master trap. Though Jack was still able to lay the Pillar, the American forces turned on them, and luckily Lily, Jack and Iolanthe were able to get back onboard the Halicarnassus with the Pillar and escape.

Needing to get the final Pillar from the tomb of Jesus Christ before Scimitar, Vulture and Mao Gongli, Lily observed as Jack worked out the tomb's location in the Dead Sea. Joining Jack and Iolanthe in venturing into the abandoned salt mine, Lily watched as Vulture's group claimed a false Pillar before approaching the tomb's entrance. After Jack took the real Pillar, Lily asked if Jesus had really been buried there, which Jack affirmed. Unfortunately, Vulture and Scimitar had tricked Mao into leaving with the false Pillar, and offered to let Lily live if they handed over the Pillar. Luckily Pooh Bear and Stretch arrived and engaged their enemies, and though Lily was horrified at the injuries her friends received, she was relieved when Pooh Bear managed to defeat the pair.

Once they eventually emerged from the mine, however, Lily and the others found Carnivore and his forces waiting for them. In addition to taking from them the Pillar, Carnivore decided to take Lily with him to the final Vertex in case something happened to Alexander. Forced back to Carnivore's plane at gunpoint, Lily could do nothing as Cieran was ordered to execute the team, but called out some encouragement as Jack turned the tables on the treacherous Irishman, yet Jack was too late to keep Carnivore from taking off with Lily.

Once Carnivore and his entourage arrived in the Easter Island Vertex, Lily watched as the Russian royal prepared to enact the ceremony to place the Pillar and activate the Machine. Luckily Jack arrived in the crippled Halicarnassus and killed Carnivore and his guards, and proceeded to encourage Lily to join him in setting the final Pillar, despite her initial worry about receiving the Pillar's reward of Power. Once she read out the incantation from the Twin Tablets, Lily set the Pillar in place, completing the Machine's restoration just as the Dark Sun entered the edge of the solar system.

However, Jack realised he had made a mistake as Lily quickly became overwhelmed by the power channeled into her by the Pillar. Fueled by her anger, Lily's will was made real as she choked Mao's men to death with a mere thought, made the double-agent Cassidy hemorrhage blood through her eyes, and sent the broken battlement falling onto Mao in revenge for Wizard's torture. As she turned her gaze upon Iolanthe and Alexander, Jack managed to snap Lily out of her trance. The conflicting emotions caused by wielding the Pillar's power caused her to faint and drop the Pillar, leaving Jack to deal with his father.

Jack managed to get Lily to safety before the battlement she had weakened collapsed under the weight of the Halicarnassus into the abyss, and awoke soon afterwards with no recollection of her murderous rampage. As she, Jack, Iolanthe and Alexander left the Vertex together, Lily helped her twin into his scuba gear, unaware that he was still fearful of her. After Sea Ranger transported them to New Zealand, Lily and Jack proceeded to return to Carnivore's base, where the rest of the team had freed the hostages in the Living Tombs. Lily embraced Alby in relief and apologised to Lois for getting her caught up in the crisis, but Alby's mother reassured her that it was alright, noting her gladness of knowing Alby had such a good friend in Lily.

A few weeks later, Lily was present as Jack and Zoe got married in a civil ceremony, and the young girl was glad that Zoe was her official mum. Five weeks after the Dark's Star's repelling, Lily played with Alby and Horus on Jack's new farm.

Between The Five Greatest Warriors and The Four Legendary Kingdoms[]

In the months after the Dark Star's return, Lily was free to act like a normal young girl, and at first chance asked for a pet dog. Once Jack and Zoe arranged a trip to an Adelaide dog shelter, Lily was immediately taken with a shy young labrador named Ash, and so the West family adopted her and a poodle named Roxy. Lily would play with Ash on the farmland often, and allowed her to sleep on her bed.

Over the next few years, Lily kept attending school, though she found the attitudes of her fellow teenagers (particularly the other girls) irritating, though whenever she complained Jack would remind her that the only person that anyone had to be true to was themselves.

After graduating from school, Lily chose to attend Stanford in order to study Ancient History and ancient languages, a course she found relatively easy thanks to her experiences when she was young and own talents. Lily kept in touch with Jack and Zoe by chatting with them via FaceTime, and remained in contact with Alby while he was studying at Caltech. She also spent some time with Jack's oceanographer friend David "Nobody" Black, who became something of a surrogate uncle to her.

While at Stanford, Lily also made a number of new friends, among them Dion DeSaxe, the heir to a wealthy French family and with whom Lily went on a few dates with. While she occasionally self-questioned why someone like Dion would want her, Lily told Jack that she thought Dion was good boyfriend material, even as she began wondering about the possibility of Alby being more than a friend.

At one point while visiting home, Lily was looking through the farm's work shed when she found Wizard's last warbler. Missing her grandfather figure, Lily decided to keep it on her person as a constant reminder.

When Jack came to visit in mid-2016, Lily introduced him to Dion, but she was surprised and off-put by the familiarity Dion used during the meeting. Later, Lily admitted to her conflicting feelings when she asked Jack if he thought Alby could be more than a friend to her, and while Jack approved he told Lily that who she dated was ultimately her choice. Later, when she and Jack were having lunch with Alby, her friend asked why Jack does the things that make him a hero. Before answering, Jack suggested that Lily and Alby were old enough to write Messages from the Other Side, letters which he would read should something ever go wrong and they died. After a few days consideration, Lily completed her message, in which she recounted her gladness in being raised by Jack and the other Coalition team members, and requested that even though her death might break Jack's spirit that he keep on fighting.

While speaking with Nobody during a football game they were watching, Lily admitted that she thinking of taking on pre-med studies since she found languages so easy, but was uncertain at the prospect and asked Nobody for his opinion. Nobody assured Lily that she had both the potential and the heart to become a good doctor.

That November, Lily returned to the West farm during her holidays, inviting Alby to stay with them a while. When Jack was called to a meeting at Pine Gap, Lily was among those who accompanied him to the facility on the Sky Warrior. However, while she and Alby were in the waiting room as Jack was being briefed, Lily was knocked out by a sleeping gas leaked into the facility, and was summarily taken away, along with Jack, Alby, Sky Monster and the dogs, by a group of people led by Iolanthe.

The Four Legendary Kingdoms[]

Lily and the others would wake up two days later inside a train-mounted cage, and forced to watch as a man calling himself Hades announced the beginning of the Great Games of the Hydra in the Underworld, and as Jack struggled through a pit of rising water in order to obtain a strange gold sphere.

When Jack was reunited with his friends in the interim before the next Challenge, Lily hugged him in relief before they were met by Iolanthe, who explained to the group about the Four Legendary Kingdoms of Land, Sky, Sea and Underworld which secretly ruled the world from the shadows. Iolanthe also explained that the Games were a ritual to prevent the Hydra Galaxy from destroying the Earth, in a trial set by the Super-Ancient Beings, with Jack chosen as the Kingdom of Land's last-moment replacement Champions.

When Hades came to their cell, he informed the group that because she was the daughter of the Oracle of Siwa, Lily was of a bloodline pure enough to warrant her a place among the Royals watching the Games. Though Lily and Jack initially refused to let Hades take her away, Jack soon relented, knowing that it would keep her safe if he failed and got himself and his hostages executed, and give Lily the chance to gather information. Once Jack surreptitiously explained his reasoning, Lily agreed and went along with Hades, who placed her under Iolanthe's care.

Lily watched the Third Challenge with Iolanthe, anxious as she watched Jack and Sky Monster traverse the arena of minotaurs and armoured elephants. After Jack went back for Sky Monster after ensuring he wouldn't be eliminated, Lily watched proudly as her father also rescued an injured minotaur and helped it escape.

After the Third Challenge, Iolanthe prepared to take Lily to the banquet dinner hosted by Hades. As the Royal had her hair and clothing done up to make Lily more presentable to the gathered royals, Lily questioned how Iolanthe could be so blasé about the people dying in the Games, which Iolanthe claimed that it was simply how the world really worked.

At the banquet, Iolanthe guided Lily around and informed her about the various coats of arms the young woman observed. After noting Vacheron's obvious desire for Iolanthe, Lily was surprised to find herself sorry for the amoral Royal as she explained that she would have no choice in who she married. Lily was soon approached by Cardinal Mendoza, whom she recognised from Jack's briefing years earlier, and was disgusted by the lewd Cardinal as he leered at her and rudely inquired if she was still a virgin. Taking Lily's assertion that it was none of his business in his stride, Mendoza noted that she would make someone a lucky husband before taking his leave.

To try and set Lily more at ease after this encounter, Iolanthe decided to introduce Lily to Hades's son, but only made things worse as Lily saw that it was Dion. Realising that he had known who she was even before they had met at Stanford, Lily cursed herself for not seeing the cocky royal for who he was, and was further revolted as Dion's cousin George expressed exuberance for the carnage in the Games thus far. Though Dion apologised for not sharing who he was and invited her to dine with him later so that he might have a chance to explain himself, Lily refused to even let Dion escort her back to her table, to the horror of a couple of princesses who had been eyeing Dion. As the banquet progressed, Iolanthe explained to Lily what had been discovered about the Golden Spheres, and Lily was horrified as the jester Mephisto killed a minotaur for the Royals' amusement.

The following morning, Lily and the Royals watched as the Champions began traversing the wall-maze of the Fourth Challenge, with Jack accompanied by Alby and Roxy. When she saw Jack was about to be ambushed by Mephisto, she prepared to shout a warning, but Hades warned her that it was not for them to interfere. Thinking quickly, Lily surreptitiously knocked a champagne glass out of another Royals' hand so that when it smashed on the ground, the sound alerted Jack to the danger.

As the progression prepared to move on to the Fifth Challenge, Lily was first brought to attend a lunch Hades was hosting for all of the remaining Champions and their sponsoring Kings, and as she was reunited with Jack, Lily indicated Dion's presence and his status as Hades's son. As the lunch progressed, Lily listened to Mendoza's explanation regarding the Omega Event and the trials of the Ancients, which included the diverting of the Hydra galaxy since the Great Games were a ritual to prevent it from destroying the Earth. When Jack returned from his sly questioning of the King of Land, Orlando, Jack told Lily about overhearing Dion talk about the impending execution of all the hostages, and asked her to ensure Vacheron couldn't set off the explosive in his neck while he worked to rescue their friends.

As Lily and Iolanthe prepared to go to the viewing balcony to watch the Fifth Challenge, Dion requested Iolanthe allow him to escort Lily for a while. Leading Lily to a minotaur torture chamber, Dion expressed his desire to make Lily his wife despite her newfound disgust of him, and revealed his plan to usurp his father and become the King of Kings. In response to her defiance, Dion revealed he, his brother Zaitan and George had chained up Alby, threatening to kill him and others she cared about if she did not comply. Reluctantly acceding, Lily allowed Dion to escort her back to the viewing balcony.

Even as she watched Jack, Sky Monster and E-147 contend against the other Champions in a Circus Maximus-style race, Lily soon took an opportunity to steal Vacheron's remote. Soon Lily watched as Jack proceeded to escape from the Underworld with his and Schofield's hostages, and was present as Jack was brought back before the Royals alone. To Lily's relief, Schofield used his reward for winning the Fifth Challenge to request that Jack be spared.

Lily then went with the rest of the procession to the Summit Temple to watch as the first five Golden Spheres were set into place within the mountain's obelisk. Before proceeding to the observatory for the remaining Challenges, Hades announced that he had agreed to Dion's request to give Lily to him to marry upon the completion of the Great Games, to Lily and Jack's horror. As she made her way to the observatory, Lily tried to think of a way out of her situation but could find none. To her surprise, Iolanthe empathised with Lily, having been similarly forced into betrothal with Vacheron, encouraging Lily to stay strong, though Lily asserted that she would stay strong because she had learned how to be so from Jack.

Lily watched the final Challenges as they took place in the observatory, being variously worried and relieved for Jack as he narrowly defeated Vargas, and saw the hurt that being forced to kill Schofield had inflicted on him. Once Jack defeated Zaitan, Chaos and the Hydra and was faced with Cerberus, Lily silently encouraged her father to remember how Hercules had defeated the warrior's namesake in the myths, and applauded Jack as he successfully won the Great Games.

Joining Jack and the Royals as they returned to the Summit Temple, Lily watched as the ceremony to divert the Hydra galaxy began. As Orlando was about to enter the recess, an explosion caused by the minotaurs and Jack and Schofield's returned allies, as well as Pooh Bear, Stretch and Mabel, distracted everyone as they turned against the Four Kingdoms, and Jack prevented Orlando from receiving the Mysteries. As the other Royals began fleeing, Lily joined Jack, Iolanthe and Hades as they prepared to make their escape.

Following a quick detour to revive Schofield, Lily and the others were confronted by Dion, who was furious with Jack for upsetting his plans and threatened to kill him in front of Lily. Before Dion could fire, Alby shot Dion from behind, and Lily hugged her best friend in relief. Once Hades secured a chopper from his former minions, Lily and the others departed the Underworld together, resting in Alby's arms as they proceeded on to the West farm on the Sky Warrior.

The Three Secret Cities[]

Over the next few days at the farm, after Jack explained the events of the last few days to Zoe before hearing a brief account of what Zoe, the twins and Nobody had found in the Mariana Trench (with Lily translating a Thoth text from the underwater doorway), Lily took the chance to rest after the Great Games ordeal. During one moment where she and Alby listened to Mae ask Hades some questions about the Four Kingdoms, Hades requested that at some point they discuss her heritage, to which Lily reluctantly agreed.

When Hades informed Jack and the others that he was being forcibly abdicated from the Four Kingdoms, and with the Trial of the Cities and the Trial of the Mountains approaching, they would need to collect the Helmet of Hades of the Immortal Weapons, items which needed to be empowered at the Three Secret Cities of Thule, Atlas and Ra, from his New York penthouse. Lily then joined the team in boarding the Sky Warrior and heading to New York.

Along the way, Lily and Alby began researching the "rising of the Sagittarius over the sun", a celestial event that the Trial of the Cities would need to be concluded by, determining that it would occur on December 1st. Shortly before announcing their find, Lily and the others heard Hades receive a message from Minotus that a silver coffin had opened and unleashed a monstrous "bronze man" that was attacking the minotaurs, and learned that Hades's brother, Yago DeSaxe, the royal jailer, had been tasked to apprehend Jack and Hades for their actions at the Games.

Upon landing in New York, Lily, Jack and Mae accompanied Hades to his penthouse at Saxony Tower, and were shown the Helmet and a tablet belonging to the Altar of the Cosmos, which Lily translated as the incomplete instructions for the Trial of the Cities. Unfortunately, the arrival of a team led by Orlando, Mendoza and Sunil Malik forced the group to take cover in a panic room, and Lily and the others could do nothing but listen to Orlando's people discussing their next plan of action before they departed. As they prepared to leave themselves, the group were confronted by Yago and his men.

The confrontation was soon interrupted by the arrival of a pair of V-22 Ospreys under the control of a group called the Knights of the Golden Eight, who announced their intention to intention to kill Jack and capture Lily and Alby. After Yago acceded to their offer to let him leave with Hades, Lily, Jack and Mae scrambled to escape Saxony Tower as the Knights opened fire. Aided by Zoe, they soon managed to escape to Tribeca One and used to falling tower to get into the Hudson River. After being picked up by Alby, Stretch and Pooh Bear called in to report what was happening in the Underworld; believing the bronze man was speaking in Thoth, Lily listened to it speak before translating its words for them: "Are you my Master?"

Without Hades as their primary source of information, the team's best move was to view a charcoal rubbing of the full Altar tablet kept by the Fraternal Order of St. Paul at the Gallerie dell'Accademia. In the meantime, Lily helped to research the Immortal Weapons, Secret Cities and the Altar. As they shared some of their conclusions regarding the Cities' matching Weapon and their relative locations, Lily and the others were caught off-guard as all TV channels around the world were hacked by the Knights of the Golden Eight. Jaeger Eins showed the world a photo of Jack and warned him that he (and by extension Lily and Alby) could not escape from them before cutting the transmission.

Using a submersible to sneak through Venice's canals into the Accademia, Lily and Jack soon found the rubbing of the tablet, but as she began translating, Lily was horrified to discover that whoever opened the first city, Thule, would require comrades at Ra and Atlas as well because unlocking the first City activated all three's defences. The pair were then confronted by monks from the Fraternal Order of St. Paul, or as their leader Ezekiel revealed, the Order of the Omega. Though unhappy at the intrusion, and snapping harshly at Lily for speaking simply because she was a woman, Ezekiel informed them that the Golden Eight were coming for them. Lily and Jack managed to escape the monks, but during the attempt to flee through the canals, Alby was separated from them and, knowing the Knights want him alive, Alby pleaded for his friends to escape, which Lily and Jack reluctantly did with the promise of finding him later.

Rendezvousing with Zoe, Mae, Iolanthe and Julius at a London safe-house, the tortured Iolanthe explained that the process for empowering the Immortal Weapons involved retrieving an unusual blue gemstone from each City, and her belief that the final ritual on the Altar required a sacrifice. But after learning that Sir Francis Drake had the locations of the Cities in his coffin, the Knights intercepted the TV feeds again and demonstrated how far the Knights were willing to go to draw Lily and Jack out, displaying feeds of Lachlan and his family being blown up, followed moments later by Sky Monster's parents.

Once the Knights demanded that Jack and Lily go to the Westminster Bridge, using a tank to fire upon its surrounding, Lily and Jack elected to go to keep anyone else from being harmed. Upon reaching the Bridge, Jack realised that all of the Knights' vehicles were remote-operated, but he and Lily were drawn into rescuing a bus-full of civilians the Knights dropped into the Thames. After diving into the river and shooting off the lock to allow the occupants to escape, Lily was caught off-guard and captured by the Knights beneath the surface.

Brought to the Knights' base at Aragon Castle, Lily shocked to discover that it was Dion, who had not actually perished in the Underworld, who had hired the Knights with the aid of his mentor, Hardin "Sphinx" Lancaster, one of the three Trismagi. Lily was ill at the idea of Dion taking his father's throne and torturing Alby in front of her, and after Julius was captured following a reckless assault on the Knights, she screamed at Eins as he cruelly killed her friend. As Dion severed Alby's hand, Lily was surprised as Sphinx announced his need to depart with her as her prize, and as she was dragged away she called out to Alby to profess her love for him, and he called the same to her.

At Sphinx's mansion on the final day of the Trial of the Cities, Sphinx explained to Lily some of Atlas's history and the Rock of Gibraltar's true purpose as the Altar of the Cosmos. Sphinx also told Lily about friendship with her biological father, and that he had been the one to convince Milo to sire a child, but declined to specify what for. Additionally, the Trismagi told the young Oracle about his removal from the line of succession, the punishment for failing the trial, and implied his plans for a coup. Correctly guessing Lily's questioning of why he was telling her the last part, Sphinx informed her that he had no need for her talents as an Oracle and that she would soon die anyway.

Sphinx then had Lily imprisoned in a nearby tidal cell before meeting Jack and Aloysius Knight on his helipad, claiming that he would release her if Jack and Knight empowered the Mace and returned it to him. Once the task had been done, however, Sphinx cut off the oxygen in Jack and Knight's tanks, while Chloe Carnarvon used footage of Lily in the flooding cell to force Iolanthe to hand over the Helmet. As she was released from the cell, Lily demanded to know where her father was, to which Sphinx told her had had killed him while he was still underwater. Lily became despondent at the news, as Sphinx and the Golden Knights took her to the Altar of the Cosmos.

Lily remained in shock as they entered the Altar's chamber, idly wondering how events at the other Secret Cities had gone, and was only shaken out of her reverie when Sphinx initiated his coup by stabbing Orlando with the Sword of the Rock and Mendoza killed the two new kings of Sea and Sky while Dion and Chloe stood by. With that, Sphinx proceeded to have Lily enclosed inside the sacrificial pool with the empowered Mace and Helmet, commending her bravery and promising that her death was for the sake of the world. Sphinx proceeded to complete the Trial as the Sagittarius A-star's radio waves hit the Earth and stabbed Lily in the heart with the Sword. With the Oracle's death, the Trial of the Cities was successfully completed.

A short time later, a still-alive Jack and Knight arrived in the chamber to find liquid stone-encased body of Lily. Weeping in despair for failing to save his adopted daughter, Knight had to drag the shocked Jack away. When Jack regained enough composure, he decided to read Lily's Message from the Other Side email for the event of her death; reading Lily recount her gladness of having being raised by Jack and the other members of the team, and knowing that her death might break his spirit and make him want to give up, Lily wrote that she wanted Jack to keep on fighting. After reading his daughter's Message, Jack vowed to keep on fighting in her memory.

Soon after, he was reunited with Zoe in Rome, and the two grieved the loss of their adopted daughter together. A few days after the trial's end, Pooh Bear, Stretch and Alby made their way to the Altar of the Cosmos, with the intention of removing Lily from the stone and taking her away for a proper burial. But once Pooh Bear carefully chiseled off the stone around Lily's face, he was surprised by something he found, and then, happily, asked his friends to call Jack immediately.

The Two Lost Mountains[]

As Sphinx was about to deliver the fatal blow to Lily, Sphinx was shot in the shoulder, only for the assailant, Lily's twin Alexander, to be gunned down himself. Furious, Sphinx decided to have the mortally wounded Alexander take Lily's place in the sacrificial pool, and as he was dragged by Lily, Alexander managed to briefly speak to his sister, trying to tell her not to let their enemies win. Once Sphinx successfully performed the ritual by killing Alexander with the Sword of the Rock, Lily watched as a crimson light revealed writing in the Word of Thoth on one of the chamber's walls related to the Trial of the Mountains, which she translated in her head. As Sphinx and his entourage prepared to leave the Altar, Sphinx tossed a pill of greystone powder into the sacrificial pool, encasing Alexander's body in stone, and as she was taken away, Lily managed to get a final glance of her twin's resting place, reflecting on his final words.

Lily remained Sphinx's prisoner as he consolidated his resources over the next few weeks, but was brought along to Moscow when the Trismagi invaded the Novodevichy Convent to retrieve the Siren bells. Lily was forced to watch as Sphinx had the Sisters of the Order of the Serene Maidens killed for defying him, calling him a monster. Sphinx then had Lily watch as he tested one of the bells over Moscow, sending everyone in the city not wearing aural protection into a coma-like state. Once Sphinx explained the nature of the Siren bells' sleep, he informed Lily that he had learned Jack had survived Atlas, and, knowing he would come looking for her, would allow Jack to do so, before knocking Lily unconscious and having her tied to a chair in front of St Basil's Cathedral.

Some time after Lily regained consciousness, Stretch landed before her using Jack's Gull Wings, and she warned that it was a trap, just as Sphinx's Chinook, carrying one of the Siren bells, rose up. Knowing that there was nothing they could do to keep from entering the Siren sleep, Lily quickly began writing out a warning for Jack before she and Stretch succumbed to the bell's effect. Jack and Aloysius Knight soon arrived in the Red Square, with the latter reading Lily's note and forcing Jack to don his protective headgear to keep Jack from being affected by the next ring of the Siren bell. As several of Sphinx's bronzemen were deployed, Jack and Alby struggled to get the unconscious Lily, Stretch and Knight to safety, but eventually managed to escape.

Lily was brought to the team's new base at Hades's Estate in Alsace-Lorraine, where she, Stretch and Knight were given IVs to keep them nourished. Alby and Easton remained at the estate to look after Lily and the others while the rest of the team set out to begin the Trial of the Mountains.

When Yago and his contingent of bronzemen arrived at the estate, Alby and Easton rushed to get Lily and the others out before they could be captured.

After it was determined that Dr Tracy Smith might be the team's best chance to awaken Lily, Stretch and Knight from the Siren sleep, Zoe and Sister Lynda Fadel took them to her field hospital in Aleppo, where the doctor agreed to help. Once a synthetic endolymph fluid was injected into Lily's ears, she quickly snapped out of the Siren sleep, hugging Zoe in relief. Once the situation was explained to her, Lily and the others headed to Jerusalem to catch up to Jack.

Arriving not long after Jaeger Zwei used a Siren bell to put Jack, Pooh Bear and Easton to sleep, Lily, Zoe, Stretch and Knight fended off the bronzemen before awakening Jack, with Lily and her father both glad at finally being reunited.

As the team headed to Egypt and the final iron mountain beneath the Great Sphinx of Giza, Jack and Lily caught up before they and Zoe read Mae's Message from the Other Side together, Lily's adopted grandmother having been killed by General Rastor in Jerusalem. As their plane touched down in Cairo, Jack asked Lily and Zoe to undertake the Fall with him, knowing that they would need everyone they could to try and beat Sphinx to the ultimate throne in the Supreme Labyrinth, and in the event that they did not all make it wanted them to do so together for their best chance, which they agreed to.

After arriving in Giza and entering the hidden door in the Sphinx's head, Lily, Jack and Zoe contended with Brother Eli from the Order of the Omega as they raced from the top of the Falling Temple to the bottom, successfully getting themselves branded witht he burning key necessary to grant them access to the Labyrinth. With that done, Lily and the rest of the team began preparations to head to the Supreme Labyrinth and find a way past the forces Sphinx had left to guard the gates inside.

Arriving at the location of the gates in the Sinai Desert, the rest of the team enact Jack's "Russian Doll" plan in order to barrel through Sphinx's defences, allowing Lily and her adopted parents to narrowly make it through the gate with Easton and four "palemen". Examining the mummified head of Imhotep that Alby passed to them, Lily read out the instruction to the maze tattooed on it, and when Zoe suggested that Lily marry Alby if they made it out of the Labyrinth, Lily admitted the idea had crossed her mind. Once they opened the inner gate into the Supreme Labyrinth with their brands, Lily and the others proceeded inside, ready to face their final mission together.

The One Impossible Labyrinth[]

A short distance into their entranceway, Lily and the others were rushed into the First Cavern, where they quickly took stock of the challenge before them. As Zoe and Jack distracted the silverman, Lily heeded Jack's urging and headed into the gigantic stalactite with Easton. Before descending the well-shaft, they were attacked by a pair of Vandals, and after tossing her opponent into the shaft, Lily saw it get shredded by several super-sharp filament wires and warned Easton to be careful. Once they emerged onto the spiral path, Lily and Easton saw Rastor start firing RPGs at the stalactite to bring it down, and yelled for her father to get outside. Finding the bridge ahead of them broken, Lily had Easton hand her some of his grenades so that she use them to collapse one of the nearby obelisks to allow them to cross the gap. After seeing Jack go into shock after Zoe fell into the abyss with the falling stalactite, Lily and Easton had to drag him to the exit from the First Cavern before it closed on them.

Lily comforted Jack as he grieved Zoe, but when he questioned if they really needed to carry on the mission, she was taken aback and found herself giving him a pep-talk in not giving up before he agreed to continue. Moving on, Lily, Jack and Easton found themselves faced with six possible paths, and after re-examining the clues on Imhotep's skull determined the likely correct route, and Lily volunteered to cross the chasm to their chosen tunnel first since Jack was still emotional. After making it to her balcony, Lily was surprised as Dion burst out of the adjacent tunnel - having taken the wrong path - and jump across to her ledge as something killed the last of his squires. But as she decided to kick him off, Dion pulled the pin on a grenade, threatening to release the lever and kill her as well if she tried.

As Dion climbed up, he sneered that Lily had always been "a smart little bitch" and thanked her for showing him the correct tunnel, and then took out his pistol and fired at her point-blank. However, having switched on the Warbler she had taken to carrying on her person, the bullet missed Lily, and in Dion's moment of shock, she proceeded to brutally punch Dion in the face several times. After Lily unleashed her built-up frustrations with the perfidious royal, she jammed the grenade into Dion's pants and kicked him off the ledge before it detonated and killed him. When Jack rejoined her, Lily cried in his arms before explaining how she had acquired the Warbler, with Jack assuring her that Wizard would have been pleased to know he had saved her life.

As they resumed their journey down the Endless Tunnel, Lily noticed Jack's pensive state and asked how he was doing, as he remained despondent over Zoe's death. Hearing her father question why he should bother carrying on, Lily - herself upset but unwilling to let Jack withdraw into grief - snapped at him, rebuking his words and reminding Jack of what he's been teaching her her whole life his accomplishments thus far to encourage him on. Jack conceded that she was right, and thanked Lily, and the group resumed their mission. When they came across a stationary goldman, Lily, Easton and Smiley waited for Jack to give them the all-clear before proceeding, taking care not to speak or look into the automaton's face. Despite coming under attack from more Vandals, Lily and the others were able to get to safety before the goldman attacked, escaping into the next "under-tunnel".

During a break in the journey over the next several hours, Lily slipped the Warbler she carried into Jack's pocket, believing he would need it at some point. Soon the group arrived at the entrance to the City-Maze, narrowly avoiding injury in an ambush involving a Vandal and a crimson orb set up by Rastor. Looking out into the City-Maze, Lily and Jack were confused when they saw their rivals were fighting to reach a throne in the center, having assumed from the Imhotep clues that they were only halfway through the Labyrinth. As she witnessed Rastor cause chaos by using RPGs to damage the seawall, Lily saw that a rescue chopper on the deck of an aircraft carrier being dragged into the City-Maze was about to fall on them, and quickly pushed Jack out of the way. Lily was hit by a glancing blow from the chopper and knocked unconscious, and Smiley shielded her from further debris as Easton confirmed that Lily was fine.

Lily regained consciousness some time later, after Jack had destroyed the throne in the City-Maze and raced into the second half of the Labyrinth alone. Soon a chopper carrying Alby, Sky Monster, Knight and Rufus landed nearby, and Lily swapped stories with them until the still-alive Zoe arrived. After Zoe had gathered some diving gear, Lily elected to accompany her and Alby into the second half of the Labyrinth to catch up with and aid Jack in reaching the second throne.

Once Lily and the others were reunited with Jack, the quartet worked to navigated the rotating Four-Sided Maze, with Lily helping to plot their courses to each safe blockhouse. During their passage, Alby saved Lily from falling out of their blockhouse when the maze rotated in an unexpected direction, and eventually she determined the pattern of the rotations from the Imhotep clues. At the very end, Lily, Alby and Zoe were swept back by a rush of water, and hurried to catch up to Jack, only to see him apparently killed in a crimson orb explosion. Unwilling to accept this, Lily tried to dig through the rubble of the cupola and cried in Alby's arms. Harried by gunfire from Sphinx and Mendoza, Lily and the others allowed them to pass before pursuing their enemies up the Tower of Judgement, and though Ricardo Mendoza held them at gunpoint, Jack returned to lay out the Cardinal.

With the next part of the Labyrinth expected to be passed through one at a time, Lily waited until her turn to ascend in the cage to the Chamber of Judgement, where the Gold Colossus judged her to be "pure love" and "a most holy and wise Oracle", before allowing Lily to continue on to the Stadium of the Throne of Death. Once she, Zoe and Alby had all arrived in the Stadium, they ran to catch up to Jack, eventually nearing him on the pinnacle as Jack - having had the hand of his artificial arm damaged by Rastor - found himself unable to climb the final overhang. Lily helped to aid Jack one last time by helping pass Alby's prosthetic hand up to Jack, allowing her father to make the final climb to the Death Throne before Sphinx and prevent the Omega Event from happening. Once they reunited at the top of the pinnacle, Jack explained to Lily and Zoe how he had been granted the power of absolute command for sitting on the throne, and the group discussed what the Colossus had said about each of them until the rest of their friends arrived to pick them up.

In the years following the aftermath of the events of the trials and Sphinx's actions, Lily decided to pursue her desire to become a doctor and commenced medical studies at Stanford. While she had become famous due to the world discovering the trials and being Jack's daughter, Lily found that her fame was more focused on her appearances than her accomplishments, and quickly grew tired of the media and avoided the spotlight as much as possible, especially once she began working at a hospital in Los Angeles.

The day following Lily's graduation, she and Alby got married and eventually started a family together, having four children (twin daughters, a son, and another daughter). While the twins were Oracles of Siwa like Lily, she and Alby discussed the need to ensure that all knowledge needed for the trials remained intact for the future, and so worked to teach all of their children the Word of Thoth and their responsibility to make sure knowledge about the shrines and tools were not lost.

Personality[]

Ever since she was young, Lily has been highly inquisitive, and always yearning to know more. Her ability to translate the Word of Thoth makes her a valuable asset to the team, whom she loves like family, and through her upbringing has realised the importance of working together. Lily's youth made her see things in a different perspective from the soldiers looking after her, who were always careful to try to raise her properly by doing their best to have her avoid looking at gruesome scenes and swearing around her (though in the latter case, she was always eager to secretly catch the team members swearing since they would then have to put money in a jar that would be spent on toys for her).

However, her youthful innocence was always underscored by the gritty reality of the missions she took part in, being shocked at the loss of several people who had raised her, such as Noddy and Big Ears. The latter's death in particular, while saddening Lily greatly, was not enough to deter her from continuing the search for the Capstone, wanting to fulfill Big Ears's last wish for her to do her duty. The loss of Wizard a couple of years later also affected Lily a great deal, as the death of her grandfather-figure filled Lily with hatred towards Wolf to the point that she thought that Jack should have let Wolf die when he had the chance. The anger in Lily was amplified when she held the Sixth Pillar, and the emotionally immature and unstable young girl used the Pillar's power to kill several people she thought should die before succumbing to shock and falling unconscious.

After becoming a young adult, Lily became more worldly and self-assured, while continuing to learn to feed her ongoing curiosities about history, language, and other subjects. Lily has been inspired by Jack over the course of her life to strive to be like her adopted father, acting for the greater good of the world and the common people, in particular for her friends and family. It was this desire to help others that eventually led her to decide to train in medicine. While she has grated at times and questioned saving the world for some people (in particular teenage girls) who don't seem to appreciate life, Lily has remained set on her path of fighting for others instead of using her heritage to inflate her ego or social standing like members of the Four Kingdoms. Indeed, the arrogance, sense of entitlement and nonchalance of violence towards those they saw beneath them which was displayed by the royals thoroughly disgusted Lily.

Lily's conviction to see the last trials of the Super-Ancients through for the sake of the world remained largely steadfast, the only time she wavered was when Sphinx told her (mistakenly) that Jack was dead, causing her to lose all hope and thus offering no resistance as Sphinx and his followers prepared to sacrifice her. Fortunately, Alexander's last words to her about not letting them win seemed to give Lily some will to live as he was given her place in the sacrificial pool, which got her through the next few weeks until she was told Jack was still alive. After Zoe's apparent death, Lily - while sharing in Jack's grief - was forced to give him a stern pep-talk to encourage him to continue the mission, doing so in a manner that Jack would have done to encourage anyone else, demonstrating just how similar to her adopted father she's grown up to be.

Skills[]

  • Word of Thoth Comprehension Ability: As an heir to the Oracle of Siwa bloodline, Lily has a natural ability akin to intuitive bilingualism, which allows her to understand the mysterious language known as the Word of Thoth in its various forms, a feat that even supercomputers designed solely to translate Thoth cannot perform. Within a short time of reaching the age of 10, Lily began automatically understanding the written Thoth dialects, quickly grasping the seven dialects of increasing difficulty within a week. Upon encountering the Neetha tribe and hearing them speak the spoken language of Thoth, Lily was quickly able to understand them and begin speaking the language itself without being taught.
  • Multilingualism: As she grew up, Lily was taught how to read and speak the foreign languages of her multinational guardians. As an apparent side-affect of her Oracle abilities, Lily has been able to learn many languages with ease despite her young age, and has since accumulated a number of modern and ancient languages that she can both read and speak.
  • Expert Historian: While she initially was not formally educated in ancient history, Lily's experiences throughout her childhood granted her a wealth of knowledge regarding ancient history and myths. As such, by the time she began attending Stanford to study Ancient History, Lily was able to undertake the coursework with minimal study and effort on her part.
  • Trained Marksman: Presumably as a necessity to protect herself during the team's various dangerous missions, Lily has at least been trained in using pistols.
  • Trained Combatant: As the adopted daughter of two skilled soldiers (in addition to her other combat specialist guardians), Lily has apparently been trained in forms of hand-to-hand combat, as she was able to easily overpower Dion and beat him thoroughly.
  • Expert Physician: Following the completion of the trials, Lily began studying medicine at Stanford, having expressed an interest in becoming a doctor as a means of helping people. After graduating with the necessary qualifications, Lily went on to become an accomplished cardiac surgeon.

Equipment[]

Weapons[]

  • Iolanthe's Pistol: A pearl-handled pistol that Iolanthe loaned to Lily for use during the confrontation with the Knights of the Golden Eight in London.
  • Grenades: Borrowed from Easton while in the Supreme Labyrinth, Lily used a pair of the explosives so that she could bring down an obelisk to created a bridge for them to use in the First Cavern. During her confrontation with Dion, Lily took the grenade the royal had been using to threaten her and instead trap it in his pants so that it went off as he was falling into the chasm.

Other Equipment[]

  • Pillars: The bizarre uncut diamonds the size of a brick that were created by a race of super-ancient people for use in the Machine's restoration. During the mission to rebuild the Machine, Lily came into proximity of almost all of the Pillars. Lily briefly examined the first Pillar to translate some of the Thoth text on its flanks to determine its reward of Knowledge, and, at the end of the mission, personally laid the final Pillar into its corresponding Vertex herself with Jack's blessing. However, laying the sixth Pillar granted Lily its reward of Power, which, in a subconscious trance of anger, she then used to kill Diane Cassidy, Mao, and Mao's men with extraordinary abilities before Jack managed to snap her out of it.
  • Warbler: Anti-gunfire devices invented by Epper, which Jack and the Coalition team used to defend themselves from enemies firing on them. Lily found one of Epper's last remaining Warblers and decided to keep it on her person as a constant reminder of her grandfather-figure. She still had it when she went into the Supreme Labyrinth, and while she wasn't sure it still worked, Lily activated it to deflect the round fired at her by Dion. After the incident, she slipped it into Jack's jacket since she believed he would need it more.

Relationships[]

Alby Calvin[]

Lily and Alby have been close friends since they met, to the point where Wizard would later note that Alby was the kind of friend that Lily would need during difficult times.

During the eight years between The Five Greatest Warriors and The Four Legendary Kingdoms, they remained good friends and kept in touch while attending different American universities. Around the same time she went on a few dates with Dion, Lily began reflecting on her feelings for Alby, wondering what would happen if they were more than friends. Though she asked for Jack's opinion on the matter, Lily chose not to complicate the friendship between her and Alby.

When they were brought to the Underworld, Dion threatened to torture Alby unless Lily married him, and she reluctantly goes along with the idea to keep Alby from being hurt because of her. In The Three Secret Cities, believing she may be seeing Alby for the last time as Sphinx prepares to take her away, she calls out to him to proclaim that she loves him, and Alby reciprocates her feelings before she is taken. Though she has not yet had the chance to reunite with him properly, Lily was open to Zoe's suggestion that she marry Alby if she survived the journey through the Supreme Labyrinth, admitting that she had been considering it. Indeed, during the epilogue of The One Impossible Labyrinth, in the years after the Omega Event's prevention, Lily and Alby do marry and start a family.

Trivia[]

  • Lily is extremely gifted at learning languages, in written, spoken and gestural forms, suggested to be a result of her Oracle ability. In addition to her natural ability to understand Thoth and the English she primarily speaks, Lily knows the following languages:
    • Gaelic
    • Arabic
    • Spanish (presumably)
    • Jamaican Patois (presumably)
    • Greek (and Ancient Greek)
    • Cuneiform
    • Japanese
    • Latin
    • Sign-language
    • German
  • Lily's ability to understand Thoth, as with all other Oracles of Siwa, can be likened to Intuitive Bilingualism.
  • At the time of The Six Sacred Stones, Lily knew five other languages in addition to English, including sign. Given that in Seven Ancient Wonders she was established to know the non-English languages some members of the team used, such as Irish Gaelic, this may have meant the number of languages she had learned in the period between the two novels.
  • Though she renamed most of the Coalition team members, it remains unclear why she never gave Sky Monster a new nickname
    • Ironically, Sky Monster was the one who gave Lily the nickname Eowyn.
  • Among the characters who appear throughout the Jack West Jr Series, Lily has the second-most number of appearances following Jack himself; having appeared in all seven novels, as well as in one of the series' two short stories (though she was mentioned as part of exposition for the other short story).
    • Along with Jack, Zoe, Sky Monster, Stretch and Pooh Bear, Lily is among the few characters who have appeared in every novel in the Jack West Jr Series.
