Laozi was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer who briefly owned the Philosopher's Stone.

Fictional History[]

Early History[]

During his time as a scholar, Laozi obtained one of the Six Sacred Stones, the Pillar-cleansing tool that would later be known as the Philosopher's Stone. While it was under his possession, Laozi learned of its trans-mutative properties, and also of other elements relating to the Machine such as the Dark Star, the Vertices and the date the first Pillar had to be laid.

Eventually, Laozi arranged for the Philosopher's Stone to be hidden in a cavern beneath Witch Mountain, guarded by a series of traps of his own design which reflected his philosophy of Taoism.

The Six Sacred Stones[]

In the 21st century, Wizard and Tank located Laozi's Witch Mountain chambers, hoping to locate the Philosopher's Stone, and uncovered information that Laozi had had inscrubed on the chamber's walls regarding the imminent return of the Dark Sun and the Pillar placings.

When Mao Gongli and his men tried to make their way through the trap system with brute force, Mao cursed Laozi. The Coalition of Minnows team, led by Jack West Jr, however, were able to overcome Laozi's traps by figuring out the truth of the yin-and-yang-based system.

The Five Greatest Warriors[]

When Diane Cassidy provided the Coalition of Minnows team with her findings on the identities of the Five Greatest Warriors, a skeptical Jack suggested the Laozi could easily be among the Five Warriors because of his earlier established connection to the Machine.
