When the Catholic Church began organising a mission to restore the Golden Capstone so that they could nullify the destruction threatened by the Tartarus sunspot and obtain worldly power, Father Francisco del Piero began seeking out the Oracle of Siwa, Milo Omari, to translate the Word of Thoth on the Callimachus Text. While the Oracle was too difficult to find, del Piero ended up locating his pregnant wife, Malena Okombo, and so he had her kidnapped and taken to an ancient chamber within the Kanyamanaga Volcano in Uganda, presumably as part of an old Sun Cult tradition to make each Oracle "divine".
As del Piero and his followers began the ceremony as Malena went into labour, Jack West Jr and Max Epper arrived at the Kanyamanaga volcano to rescue her. Shortly after they arrived at the ledge over the birthing chamber, however, Malena's child, a boy, was birthed. As del Piero forcibly took away the boy, Malena's cries of protest stopped as she suddenly passed away, and as he and his retinue departed the birthing chamber, del Piero activated a mechanism that allowed the volcano's lava to begin flowing into the chamber.
Jack decided to try and take her body away before it could be consumed by the incoming lava flow, since they had failed in their promise to keep her safe. During Jack's inspection of Malena's body, he discovered another child was still alive in her womb, so he and Epper performed a caesarian, resulting in the birth of Malena's daughter. With the exit from the volcano chamber's exit now blocked by a curtain of lava, as well as the release mechanism, Jack, seeing no other way to escape, plunged his left arm into the waterfall of lava to pull the release lever, after Epper promised to build him a prosthetic one better than his old arm.
Jack managed to pull the lever before his arm was severed off at the elbow, allowing him and Epper to escape the birthing chamber with the infant girl. When Jack passed out from the shock, Epper aided him as they left the Kanyamanaga volcano.
