Henri Rae is a French scientist from the d'Urville research station.
History[]
Ice Station[]
The scientist Henri Rae was stationed at the Dumont d'Urville research station in Antarctica, where on at least one occasion he met some of the scientists from the neighbouring American station, Wilkes, such as Sarah Hensleigh.
One day, d'Urville intercepted a distress call from Wilkes, claiming that a diving team had disappeared after finding an alien ship beneath the ice. Soon after, Rae was sent with Luc Champion and a team of paratroopers to secure the station and the spacecraft for the French, with Rae and Champion's presence intended to sell the illusion of the paratroopers posing as scientists from d'Urville since the pair were personally known to the Wilkes staff.
At first, the American scientists believed him and the paratroopers posing as scientists to have come in response to the distress call in order to help, though Rae was extremely nervous around them. The scientist's nerves only increased when a team of U.S Marines led by Shane Schofield arrived. Soon their ruse was uncovered, and during the firefight in the station, Rae and Luc hid. However, the Marines defeated the paratroopers, and when the pair were found, they were handcuffed to a pole on E-deck.
When British SAS troops began to head for Wilkes, Schofield decided to abandon Wilkes, but left Rae, Luc and the ICG infiltrator Snake behind. When Trevor Barnaby and the SAS arrived, Luc was shot in the head by Nero while trying to demand their release. When Barnaby asked if Rae was also French, the scientists could only whimper before Barnaby ordered Rae's death as well, his protest cut off as Nero shot him.
Personality[]
Whilst Rae was guilty of participating in the plan to deceive and kill the American scientists and Marines and capture the supposed alien spaceship for the French, the fact that he spoke very little and was visibly anxious about the situation indicates that he was a reluctant accomplice, unlike Champion.
