The Filament Weapon is an ancient harp-shaped device used by the likes of the Knights of the Golden Eight to torment their enemies.

History[]

Early History[]

Created long ego, the filament weapon was made with a sharp metal thread apparently made by the Super-Ancient Beings and taken from the stalactite shaft in the Supreme Labyrinth. This weapon was later acquired by the Knights of the Golden Eight, who over several centuries used it to cut off the extremities of their enemies, such as their hands or even entire limbs.

The Three Secret Cities[]

After the Knights of the Golden Eight captured Lily West and Alby Calvin on Dion DeSaxe's behalf, Jaeger Eins prepared to remove the filament from its box when Julius Adamson arrived attempting to get revenge for his brother's murder. Instead captured and imprisoned alongside Alby, Eins decided to demonstrate what was to happen to Alby, taking the filament weapon and using it to cut off both of Julius's hands.

After Eins dropped Julius's cage into the water below to drown him, he handed the filament weapon over to Dion, who gleefully cut of Alby's left hand. Rather than continue, Dion chose to let Alby suffer slowly instead of cutting off another limb, handing the weapon back to Eins.

The One Impossible Labyrinth[]

As Lily hip-tossed a Vandal attacking her in the Supreme Labyrinth's stalactite into the open shaft and saw him get sliced to pieces by the various threads criss-crossing the shaft, she was reminded of the Golden Knights' filament weapon.

When Jaeger Eins had Alby and Aloysius Knight brought to him on the Red Horizon Star-4, he brought out his filament weapon, intending to torment them and cut off their limbs. However, as everyone was thrown off-balance as the oil rig was caught in the chaos caused by General Garthon Rastor's RPG damaging the seawall surrounding the City-Maze, Alby managed to launch a surprise attack on Eins and snatch the filament weapon away from him. Alby quickly used the filament weapon to slice through the flex cuffs binding his and Knight's wrists, and kept ahold of it as they dived to safety inside a tied-down chopper as the rig titled over.

Eins soon attempted to attack the pair within the chopper, though this caused Alby to reflexively swipe at him with the filament weapon, severing off the lower half of Eins' face. As Eins roared in pain, Alby pressed his attack and severed both of the Golden Knight's hands, before kicking the disfigured and maimed Eins out of the chopper to his death.

Attributes[]

The filament weapon is small and harp-shaped, with a super-thin, super-sharp metal thread running through the gap. This thread possibly originated with the Super-Ancient Beings, since an extremely similar thread was found criss-crossing the stalactite shaft in the Supreme Labyrinth. The thread is seemingly able to cut through any material with ease, such as wood, flesh and bone, and even the exceptionally dense metal the silvermen are made from. In the filament weapon, the gap in the harp shape is wide enough to allow a whole human limb to pass through as the thread cuts through it.
