Doris Epper is the wife of Max Epper.

History[]

Early History[]

Having apparently met the love of her life, Max Epper, at some point during her school years, Doris and Max would marry in 1958 when they were roughly 18.

When Max undertook a joint mission with several other nations to guard a little girl until she was old enough to lead them to the seven Ancient Wonders and the Pieces of the Golden Capstone, Doris joined them at Victoria Station in Kenya.

Over the next ten years, Doris and Max acted as grandparent-figures to Lily, helping to home-school her. Doris would constantly be terrorised by Lily and Fuzzy as she napped, as the Jamaican soldier taught Lily how to be stealthy.

Seven Ancient Wonders[]

After the acquisition of the Zeus Piece in Paris, Doris was contacted by Jack's team, and she in turn informed them of Max's team managing to view the St. Peter's Piece. Doris then went upstairs to make dinner for the returning groups, only to be confronted by Marshall Judah and some his CIEF troops in the kitchen.

When the Halicarnassus arrived back at the farm, Doris awaited them in the hanger. Knowing that Judah's men were lying in wait and listening, she greeted Lily and Big Ears, telling Lily that their return is just like Gimli's return to the mines of Moria, a part in the Lord of the Rings series that Lily enjoyed reading. Lily, aware that this was not a good thing in the story, realised something was wrong and she and Big Ears ran back towards the plane. As Judah and his men stormed the hangar and started firing at the team, Judah reprimanded Doris by saying she shouldn't have warned them, and then shot her point blank.

After the team escaped, Lily revealed that she knew something was wrong from what Doris had said because in the Lord of the Rings, when Gimli returned to Moria it had been a trap.

Later, when Jack confronted Judah on the Great Pyramid, Jack told him that he could forgive him for a lot of things, but not for killing Doris, and so threw his safety harness into the engine of the hovering Halicarnassus, avenging Doris. Max, who was nearby, learned of his wife's death this way, and after the battle, Lily comforted him.

After Death[]

After reflecting on the deaths of Doris and the others during the mission, Jack realised that there would always be the risk of being killed without a chance to say goodbye, and so he suggested that Max and everybody in the team write an email to be read by him or someone else important to them should they perish during a mission, which he called Messages from the Other Side. In his Message to Jack, Epper noted that their friendship had helped him cope with Doris's death and hoped that he would die content in knowing that his life meant something and that he could be with Doris once again. (The Three Secret Cities)

When Max was mortally wounded by Wolf in Genghis Khan's Lost Arsenal and lay dying, he noted that in death he would be with Doris again. (The Five Greatest Warriors)
