Cassie Cassowitz is the daughter of the renowned superhero Cobalt and a JPL engineer who eventually takes on the mantle of Cobalt Blue.
She is the main protagonist of Cobalt Blue.
History[]
Early History[]
Unexpectedly conceived to Professor Arnold Cobalt and Dr Christine Cobalt (aka, the superhero Cobalt), who had previously been unable to have children, Cassie was raised to term in secret since she would be the only naturally-born child of the latter. As her mother was a superhuman, Cassie was born with the potential to develop powers like her half-siblings. While Cassie's older brothers and sisters were known to the public to have been brought about by artificial methods using Cobalt's donated eggs, Cassie's parents wanted to keep both her existence and her natural conception from the public.
The higher-ups in the U.S. government who knew of Cassie's existence had agreed to let Cobalt's natural child remain hidden, though they did give Cassie her own codename like her siblings, Cobalt Blue. Unfortunately, a junior minister who wanted to show off let slip about Cobalt's last child, though no details other than her codename were ever leaked. The hint of her existence did, however, prompt the Russian government to try to uncover any and all details they could gather on Cassie, but none of their spies were able to learn anything about her.
As she was growing up, Cassie got along with all of her siblings - except for Blaine / Cobalt Black - as she grew up, as they saw her as their dear little sister and felt the need to protect her. Cassie was eventually given the option by her parents to emerge from obscurity so that she might become a hero like her siblings, but, seeing how the public view on her brothers and sisters affected their lives, she chose to continue living in anonymity. During her teenage years, however, she was trained how to fight by Gary / Cobalt Gold (who taught her several martial arts) and Reggie / Cobalt Red (who taught Cassie about street-level brawling).
When Cassie was 17, both the Fury of Odessa and the Fury of Kazan - two of the sons of Cobalt's rival, the Fury of Russia - attacked Cassie and her father in their home. Cassie couldn't bring herself to fight and tried to escape with her father, but failed, being forced to watch as Kazan crippled Arnold, and only the last-second arrival of Cobalt saw the pair rescued.
Cassie then decided to enter the witness relocation program so that she could ensure that she could live in obscurity, a process that was later expedited after a heated conversation between Cobalt and the Fury of Russia in Paris provoked the latter into threatening to go after Cobalt's daughters. Marshal Connie-Anne Walters was assigned to be Cassie's case-officer, and set her up with a new identity in Los Angeles, and remained her sole point of contact for WITSEC. Despite the Marshal's gruff attitude, Cassie liked her.
As she began living in L.A., Cassie occasionally still saw her siblings in secret, such as Golden Gary in Las Vegas and Winnie/Cobalt White and Paul / Cobalt Purple in New York City, using secret entrances to enter their homes in order to remain unnoticed by the press.
Cassie went on to join Jet Propulsion Laboratory as an engineer, and later, through a collaboration with SpaceX, met Trey Cassowitz. After dating for some time, Cassie introduced Trey to her parents, and some time after married in a small, private ceremony.
Around the time she turned 28, Cassie learned that her mother was dying of heart related issues due to the stress of her powers. Before Cobalt died, she warned Cassie that the Fury of Russia would come after her, and tried to encourage her one last time to become a hero.

Personality[]

Powers[]
- Enhanced Physiology: Having been conceived after her mother received her powers, Cassie was born a hybrid of human and "superhuman", which allowed her to develop similar powers to Cobalt, albeit at only half the strength.
- Superhuman Strength: Though only half as strong as her mother, Cassie possesses strength far beyond that of a normal human, which enables her to perform extraordinary feats such as punch through solid concrete
- Enhanced Durability: Thanks to her enhanced physiology, Cassie is far more durable than a typical human, being near invulnerable, though to a lesser degree that Cobalt or the Fury. She can withstand a variety of impacts that would stun, injure or even kill the average person, such as a car crash. There are few forces that can do her harm, such as a blow from the Fury, and while Cassie is uncertain about it, it is likely that - similar to her siblings - bullets cannot penetrate her skin.
- Flight: Cassie has the ability to fly under her own power, being able to propel herself through the air with no outside help. Along with her enhanced speed, this allows her to travel great distances within a short time, presumably being able to fly several miles within moments.
- Superspeed: Cassie has exceedingly fast reflexes, being able to quickly react to danger. Her speed is inferior to that of the Fury, but mostly on par with her siblings and the Fury brood. When used in conjunction with her ability to fly, Cassie can travel great distances within a short time.
- Enhanced Senses: As a child of Cobalt, Cassie presumably has senses greater than those of ordinary people, being able to see, hear and smell at superhuman levels.
Skills[]
- Expert Combatant: Cassie has been trained in several forms of hand-to-hand combat by her older siblings, primarily her brothers Gary and Reggie. While Gary's teachings leaned towards martial arts, Cassie was also instructed in more street-level fighting techniques by Reggie, thus allowing Cassie the skills to spot opportunities to strike at her enemies and dodge blows.
- Expert Tactician: TBA
- High IQ: As stated by Cobalt Black, Cassie possesses an IQ of 140, which grants her a near-genius level of intelligence.
- Expert Engineer: TBA
Equipment[]
- Cobalt Blue Uniform: Cassie's formal uniform for her activities as the hero Cobalt Blue, designed by a friend of Golden Gary's who worked on Cirque de Soleil. The uniform is made out leather with a Kevlar bi-weave containing poly-ceramic threading, making it able to withstand damage from blades and fire, while also being bulletproof. The exterior is largely white with deep blue racing stripe-like lines; these blue racing stripes run from the top of the right-hand shoulder down to her right boot, as well as on the right forearm guard and the right side of the otherwise-all-white helmet. A blue circle containing a white star is also present on the right shoulder. Cobalt Blue's helmet possesses a transparent blue visor, and is marked by Cassie with lines made by colored sharpies representing most of her siblings' signature colors.
Trivia[]
