As the time for the fourth Great Games of the Hydra approached, the Kingdom of Underworld acquired four Asian elephants and brought them to the Underworld for use as obstacles to the Champions in the Third Challenge. As they were being trained, the elephants were adorned in armor plating and ceremonial black and red paint to make them more fiercesome.

Description[]
The Asian elephant is typically smaller than its African counterparts, both in body and having notably smaller ears. Males are about 2.75 m (9.0 ft) tall at the shoulder, while females are smaller at about 2.4 m (7.9 ft) at the shoulder. The skin-colour of Asian elephants is usually grey, and their wrinkled skin is movable and contains many nerve centers. It is smoother than that of African elephants.
Asian elephants have a very large and highly convoluted neocortex, a trait also shared by humans, apes and certain dolphin species. They have a greater volume of cerebral cortex available for cognitive processing than all other existing land animals. They exhibit a wide variety of behaviours, including those associated with grief, learning, mimicry, use of tools, compassion, cooperation, self-awareness, memory, and even language.
